Agnes S. “Tick” Altemus, age 88, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Andrew’s Village.
The daughter of Ralph and Mabel Stadtmiller, she was born in 1929 in Home, PA.
Agnes graduated from Indiana High school in 1947. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana State Teachers College. She began her career in education as an elementary teacher in Brush Valley. She became an elementary principal and supervising principal in
the United School District.
After receiving her certification in special education, she worked as the Director of Special Classes for the Indiana County Office and ARIN Intermediate Unit. After her retirement, she was employed by Children and Youth Services in Altoona.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Boden and husband Rob, Pawleys Island, SC; and granddaughters Jillian Daigneault (Christopher), Ann Arbor, MI; and Madison Boden (Scott
Grether), Fort Mill, SC; brother, Bernard Stadtmiller (Marie), Creekside; Ruth McGinnis, East Aurora, NY; Ann Robinson (Bob), Blairsville; Dick Stadtmiller (Franny), Marion Center; Bob Stadtmiller (Doris), Home; and Shelley Anderson (Mark), Home; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles J. “Chick” Altemus, sisters Jean Jewart and Janet Lewis, and a brother, James.
As per her request, there will be no viewing. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana.
