The Altoona Curve beat Erie 3-2, but the best news of all was that Pirates’ pitcher Jameson Taillon went three scoreless innings and struck out six in his first rehab start, three weeks after surgery for testicular cancer. Taillon gave up one hit and a walk and threw 47 pitches. Jackson Williams and Edwin Espinal each homered for the Curve, which won when the Erie left fielder committed an error on Jin-De Jhang’s single in the 8th inning, allowing Espinal to score from first. Alex McRae takes his 3-1 record and 3.53 ERA to the mound for the Curve this afternoon in the series finale in Erie.
