The Penguins host the Predators in Game One of the Stanley Cup Final tonight at PPG Paints Arena. The Pens are seeking their second straight title after getting by Ottawa in seven games in the East finals. Nashville is making its first appearance in the Final.
Much of the attention heading into the series has focused on the health of the Penguins. Star defenseman Kris Letang has missed the entire postseason after neck surgery and will not return until next season. Throughout the playoffs, the Pens have had injured players out, but they are getting healthier…winger Patrik Hornqvist put in a full practice yesterday and will be a game time decision.
If he does play, Hornqvist will be excited to play against his former team. He was traded to the Penguins from Nashville for James Neal three years ago. Hornqvist says he has a lot of friends in Nashville, but not in the Stanley Cup finals.
Faceoff tonight is at 8 o’clock. The pregame airs on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel at 7.
