During Saturday’s Westylvania Jazz & Blues Festival in downtown Indiana, Hank Knerr of IUP’s Lively Arts announced the Ovations! lineup for next season, featuring two Broadway shows, a legendary song-and-dance man, jazz and classical music, dance, comedy, and international music.
Two of the highlights of the season will be the Broadway shows…the blockbuster hit Jersey Boys, celebrating the music of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, will be at Fisher Auditorium on October 12th. And on April 17th, the musical comedy sensation Kinky Boots will be presented. Other big-name entertainment includes the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on October 30th; Steinway artist Lise de la Salle on March 20th; and legendary singer, actor, and dancer Ben Vereen, the Wilfred E. Helwig Distinguished Artist, who will be the final act of the 2017-18 season. The season kicks off September 26th with Spanish guitarist with Pablo Sáinz Villegas.
Other Lively Arts series–including Theater-by-the-Grove, Music Theater, Dance Theater, University Museum, and Kipp Gallery—will be announced in the coming weeks.
Knerr said subscription order forms will be sent to donors and past subscribers in mid-June. Brochures with order forms will be available in early July with subscriptions available through mid-September. Single tickets will go on sale Tuesday, August 29.
