Construction crews are ready to get to work on IUP’s George P. Miller Stadium, which closes today for the entire summer.
The university says there will be no access to the stadium. It’s been used this week for athletic competitions associated with the convention of religious schools at the Kovalchick Complex. That convention ended yesterday.
Miller Stadium’s track will be removed and a new running surface will be installed. New fencing and gates, new trench drains, long jump runways, and new pole vault plant boxes are also part of that aspect of the renovations, which was bid under a separate contract from the spectator amenities. That part of the upgrades will include new bleachers and handicapped accessible restrooms on the visitors’ side. On the home side, new handicapped accessible viewing platforms and new handrails will be installed.
All of the work at Miller Stadium should be completed before the start of the fall.
