The Pirates started their four-game series in Atlanta with two losses but finished it with two wins, including a 9-4 victory Thursday afternoon.
Iván Nova pitched into the ninth inning but left with one out and runners on base. Jhan Mariñez got the last two outs to preserve the win.
Adam Frazier hit a three-run homer in a five-run second inning. Francisco Cervelli led the Bucs with four hits and Josh Harrison had three hits.
The Pirates begin a weekend series with the Mets on Friday.
