Christine Marie Slippy, 48, of Apollo, formerly of Pine Flats, died unexpectedly Monday, May 22, 2017 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born in Indiana, June 30, 1968, she was a daughter of Charles L. Slippy and the late Shirley E. (Roberts) Slippy.
She graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1986 and had a bachelor’s degree in marketing from IUP. She later went on to get her master’s degree in library science from Clarion University. Christine’s first job was at Concurrent Technologies Corp., in Johnstown. She was later employed as a corporate librarian for US Steel and had currently been working for Alcoa/Arconic, both of Pittsburgh.
Christine was an avid reader and was caring person who always made herself available to help others. She was a member of DAR and the American Library Association.
She is survived by her siblings: Suzette A. Kelley & husband Kevin, Pittsburgh; Timothy L. Slippy, Indiana; and Diana L. Fader & husband Michael, Pittsburgh. Nephews: Mark and Chad Kelley, and Nieces: Sarah Fader and Erin Fader; all of Pittsburgh. Christine is also survived by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Christine was preceded in death by her mother; paternal grandparents, Fred & Sara Slippy; and maternal grandparents, Robert & Ethel Roberts.
Friends will be received will be received Thursday, May 25th from 2-4PM & 6-8PM at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday morning at 11 AM, Pastor Stephen Bond will officiate. Burial will be at the Pine Flats Cemetery.
