Sylvia Jean Foster, 78, of Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at her residence.
A daughter of the late George and Edna Risinger Hill, she was born July 24, 1938, in Lucernemines.
Mrs. Foster retired from the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary Pantry. She had also worked at RobertShaw Controls. Mrs. Foster was a member of the Graystone Evangelical Church, where she also attended the Thursday bible study group. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, being with her family and helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Foster was an avid Cat’s Meow Village collector. Each piece in this collection is a replica of a different building in Indiana.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frederick M. Foster, of Indiana; two children: Greg Foster and wife Ruthann, of Indiana; Kim Colgan and husband Donald, of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren: Natasha Foster and Tyler Foster; three great grandchildren: Laila Foster, Morgan Foster and Sadie Vold. She is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Otis Hill and George Hill, Jr.; three sisters: Thelma McDonald, Martha Greenwalt and Mildred Hoover. Mrs. Foster was the last surviving member of her family.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graystone Evangelical Church with the Rev. Richard E. Hurley officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
