The Pirates edged Philadelphia, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at PNC Park to notch their six win in eight games.
Pittsburgh scored the game’s only run in the sixth inning when Aaron Nola hit David Freese in the back with the bases loaded. It was the first time a game’s only run came on a hit-by-pitch since July 5, 1998.
Right-hander Chad Kuhl delivered one of his best performances of the season, surrendering one hit, striking out five batters and issuing two walks in five innings. Tony Watson recorded his 10th save.
