As the weather gets warmer, people will turn to many different outdoor activities, but Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock wants to remind everyone that some summer traditions are not exactly legal.
One example that turns up every year is jumping off of Allen Bridge into Allen Run and the Two Lick Reservoir. A county ordinance prohibits pedestrians from walking on or occupy by standing, sitting, jumping from, lying on or otherwise using Allen Bridge unless it is an extreme emergency. If you’re caught, you could be subject to a fine of up to $1000 on top of court costs, ten days in the county jail or both.
Sheriff Fyock is also warning about the use of unlicensed and unregistered motor vehicles or unauthorized recreational vehicles in the county parks and on county trails. The ordinance concerning unauthorized use of motor vehicles in those areas were made to keep everyone safe, the parks pristeen, and to make sure that the parks and trails can be used by all. If you’re caught in that regard, you could face a fine between $25 and $300 on top of court costs, ten days in jail, or both.
