Preliminary hearings are scheduled for an Indiana man today in two rape cases dating back to 2008.
44-year-old Miguel Alonso of Clymer Avenue is accused of sexually assaulting two victims, one who was six years old at the time and one who was twelve. Both of the victims said it happened numerous times between 2008 and 2010 when they stayed at Alonso’s home and their mother was at work. Both told authorities that Alonso would come into a bedroom where they and Alonso’s children were sleeping, that he would touch them inappropriately, and that sometimes he would take them out of the room into the living room or a closet, where he raped them.
The case came to light when a family member discovered a text written by the younger victim in which the sexual assault was referenced, and then the older victim came forward. The charges in the first case were filed January 30th and the second on February 8th.
The charges are the same in both cases: rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child – all felonies – plus misdemeanor corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
The hearings are scheduled at 8:30 this morning before District Judge Guy Haberl. Alonso is being held at the Indiana County Jail with bond set at $250,000 in one case and $150,000 in the other.
