Drones and the Walker Building were discussed at last night’s Blairsville Borough Council Meeting.
The Walker building, which is across the street from the Sheetz in town, is targeted for demolition as it is in bad condition. The borough has applied for a matching funds grant from DCED, according to Borough Manager-Secretary Tim Evans, and they are seeking up to $100,000 for the grant.
Work on the Murphy building is actually on hold pending funding for the demolition and the completion of the Walker building demolition as it is in worse shape than the Murphy building.
In other business, a presentation was made by K. Dolan Corporation’s Drone division, asking to partner with the borough and grass roots organizations like crime watch to use drone technology as a tool in helping prevent crime. Evans said that the idea needs further discussion with their solicitor.
The borough also acknowledged the recent award from Welcome to Indiana for the beautification of the Blairsville Veterans Park.
