An Indiana man has been charged with theft after being caught inside a resident’s vehicle in the 100 block of North 4th Street early on Sunday morning.
Borough police say 23-year-old John Barto was attempting to steal items when he was accosted by the victim. The two scuffled and the victim subdued Barto until police arrived. Police also say Barto was intoxicated and had an illegal spring-loaded knife. He was not taken into custody but was released and later charged in a criminal complaint with theft from a motor vehicle, prohibited offensive weapons, simple assault, receiving stolen property, disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness.
