The Indiana Area School Board meets tonight, with the $32 million elementary school project on the agenda and the shadow of tomorrow’s looming Primary election, with a ballot of candidates mostly opposed to the project.
The meeting will be preceded by a Building & Ground Committee meeting at six o’clock, at which the elementary building architects are expected to make a presentation. After the committee meeting, the full board will be asked to approve a motion that McKissick Associates be authorized to set a building occupancy limit of 897 students for the new Ben Franklin school, followed by a motion for approval of the Pancon F for the new Ben Franklin school, and that McKissick be authorized to solicit bids for an advance bid package for site work.
The board will also vote on a $258,358 paving bid for the Senior High School, a bid worth more than $122,000 for renovations to the Digital Media Production facilities at the Senior High.
Citizens opposed to the elementary school project have said they will be in attendance at both the committee meeting at 6 and the special board meeting afterward.
