A former United High School bus driver is scheduled for a preliminary hearing today for charges related to his relationship with a 16-year-old girl who rode his bus.
31-year-old William Cassatt Jr. is charged with 34 misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors. The investigation originated when the girl’s father found inappropriate messages from Cassatt on his daughter’s cellphone. Police say he had improper physical contact with her “when he took her home…to dinner at McDonald’s, and…in the back yard of his house.”
Cassatt hired the girl to baby-sit his three children after the school year ended last summer. According to the criminal affidavit filed by Trooper Deanna Kirkland, he admitted he flirted with the girl and sent her inappropriate texts, but both he and the alleged victim denied that they had sexual relations.
Today’s hearing is scheduled for 10 AM before District Judge Susanne Steffee in Homer City.
