IUP names a distinguished university professor for each school year, and as one year ends today, the distinguished professor is named for next year
Each year, IUP honors one of its faculty with the award, and for the next school year, they have named Teresa Shellenbarger as their distinguished professor. She has been a professor since 1994, and right now is the coordinator of the doctorate program in nursing. In a statement, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said that she is a national leader and innovator in bringing new technologies into the classroom, online, and clinical learning environments. Shellenbarger is also the co-author of the leading book on clinical teaching in nursing, used by Graduate programs across the United States. She has also secured over $370,000 for her research.
Shellenbarger will focus the next year towards more research and scholarship events, and will also speak at many events, including freshman convocation in the fall.
