The Center Township Supervisors met in a meeting re-scheduled from earlier this month because of a power outage that went through the area.
The main topic of discussion was the Bethel Church Road Bridge project. The lowest bid for the project was $573,154 bid by Straw Construction. After talking with them, Supervisors Chairman John Bertolino said the project will be completed in two parts. The reason is because the pre-cast Aultman’s Run Bridge will not be ready until August. So the work will begin on the Storch Run bridge first, and have PennDOT inspect the bridge. Once that part passes inspection, that portion of the road will re-open and the detours will change.
The supervisors are anticipating the project will start late May or early June. In other business it was announced that the public hearing concerning the Sheetz liquor license was postponed to June 12th at 8:30 in Courtroom 2 at the Indiana County Courthouse. The hearing was originally called after Judge Tom Bianco said that while the rejection of the liquor license by the Township Supervisors was a legal vote, the township did not give a complete record as to what lead up to the vote, and the hearing has to be held again.
