An accident involving a car and a tanker truck claimed the life of a Rural Valley man yesterday in Armstrong County. The crash happened at about 1:30 on Route 85 in Valley Township, and caused the closure of that highway for more than five hours.
State police say 25-year-old Jonathan McEntire’s car was westbound when he crossed the double line into the eastbound lane and collided with a tanker truck hauling liquid fertilizer. McEntire’s care then spun into an embankment. The truck, driven by 32-year-old Keith Pollock of Marion Center impacted a guardrail.
McEntire was not wearing his seat belt. He was taken to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police do not list any injuries for Pollock, whose truck spilled 25 to 30 gallons of fuel, causing the long road closure. McCutcheon Enterprises of Apollo was summoned for the environmental cleanup.
