A loyal public servant for the Homer City and Center Township areas was honored in two different ways, showing how much of an impact he had in the area.
Homer City Borough and the Central Indiana County Water Authority both paid tribute to Tony Perman with items dedicated to him that impacted two areas that he was involved with. First, a new handicapped lift-chair was installed at the Homer City Pool, and was dedicated in Perman’s name. His son Anthony talked about how Tony would volunteer at the pool. He had volunteered at the pool for over 50 years, and all he ever wanted was “a slice of pizza and green soda”.
Later on, the Central Indiana County Water Authority dedicated the recently completed water line extension and water tank on Circle Drive in Center Township. The project was funded by a $750,000 H2O grant and over $3 million in PennVest money that came with the help of State Representative Dave Reed and State Senator Don White. Kevin George, a farmer in the Brookside area, said that the fresh water that has come in has already started to pay dividends, with more milk and a higher quality milk product coming from his cows.
The new water line and tank will provide service to over 60 township residents, and three farm and agriculture areas.
