Cincinnati hit a pair of three-run homers and that was more than enough to get the Reds past the Pirates, 7-2, Wednesday night at Great American Ball Park.
Eugenio Suarez hit a three-run shot in the first inning and Billy Hamilton hit another in the fourth inning. Pittsburgh didn’t score until the seventh inning when Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer, but it was one of just five hits for the Pirates.
Jameson Taillon suffered his first loss of the season.
Game four of the series is Thursday afternoon at 12:35 p.m. with the National League Pitcher of the Month Ivan Nova starting for Pittsburgh. Pre-game is at 12:10 p.m. on AM 1160 WCCS and 101.1 FM.
