The Indiana Borough police affidavit of probable cause filed against 19-year-old Matthew Ohler Jr. of Indiana says Ohler and 20-year-old Matthew McNevin bragged in a Snapchat video that they were planning to shoot Carlos Recalde-Campos just hours before McNevin killed him, and that they told a person the day before that they were looking for the victim and planned to kill him.
The Snapchat video was taken by Ohler as they drove in a car. He titled it “Keep Running Adu” – Adu being Recalde-Campos’ nickname – and McNevin was seen in the back seat waving a pistol. Detective John Scherf wrote in the affidavit that a witness told police that the gun came from Ohler, who “buys and sells stolen guns”.
McNevin, who is 20 and from Rayne Township, is accused of shooting into a crowd of people, fatally wounding Recalde-Campos and wounding 20-year-old Samantha Riley of Indiana, who had recovered enough last week to testify at McNevin’s preliminary hearing. The victim and the two suspects had been involved in an altercation about a week before the incident.
Both McNevin and Ohler are being held at the Indiana County Jail, with no bond.
