UPDATE: Amber Plavi took a plea agreement this morning in Indiana County Court. She pleaded to a charge of criminal solicitation to commit burglary, while the other two charges, including criminal solicitation to commit homicide, will not be prosecuted.
Because the non-bailable offenses in this case will no longer be prosecuted, bond had to be set for Plavi, and it was set for $25,000 straight cash. A bond reduction hearing is set for June 9th and a sentencing hearing is set for July 31st.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
It is rare for criminal cases to move this quickly, but an Indiana woman charged in January with trying to hire a hit man to kill her estranged fiancé is due in court to plead to charges of solicitation to criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and burglary.
33-year-old Amber Plavi is accused of offering 34-year-old Jonathan McLaurine $80,000 from the life insurance policy of the intended victim, Ryan Fritz. Investigators say Plavi had a nine-millimeter handgun with her that she had swiped from her intended victim’s truck and that the plot involved her leaving a door unlocked at his home to allow McLaurine to get in and shoot him.
Authorities were told of the scheme by a confidential informant. Police filed the charges against Plavi after interviewing McLaurine and Corey Webb, who had accompanied Plavi to the home and witnessed the offer in January.
Plavi is due before Judge Thomas Bianco at 8:30 this morning.
