A second suspect has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting on March 25th at a residence at 1128 Oakland Avenue in Indiana Borough.
Indiana Borough police have charged 19-year-old Matthew Ohler Jr. of Indiana with conspiracy to homicide, conspiracy to aggravated assault, and two counts of conspiracy to recklessly endangering another person. The charges were filed last Friday and Ohler was arraigned yesterday. He’s in the Indiana County Jail with no bond set, as conspiracy to homicide is a non-bailable offense.
20-year-old Matthew McNevin of Rayne Township is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and related offenses in the shooting death of 21-year-old Carlos Eduardo Recalde-Campos and the wounding of 20-year-old Samantha Riley, both of Indiana. The charges against McNevin were held for court last week. The trial date has not yet been set.
Police say McNevin waived his Miranda rights and admitted he shot Recalde-Campos and Riley using a stolen gun. He’d had a previous altercation with the victim and Riley testified at McNevin’s hearing that they’d heard he had been following them on the night of the shooting.
Ohler was with McNevin that night and told police he’d seen McNevin with the gun and heard him tell Recalde-Campos on the phone, “I got something for you.” Ohler was found after the shooting hiding behind Venice Pizza, just off Oakland Avenue.
