TRACK AND FIELD
Local high school track and field teams competed in the Indiana County Principals 92nd Annual Track & Field Championship – more commonly known as the County Meet – Saturday in Marion Center.
The meet included Indiana, Homer-Center, Saltsburg (Blairsville-Saltsburg), United, Marion Center, Purchase Line, Penns Manor and Apollo-Ridge.
The Indiana boys’ team dominated with 182 points, 84.5 more points than second-place Purchase Line. United won the girls’ competition with 131 points, just one point ahead of Marion Center and Indiana.
Junior Michaela Bracken of United starred in girls’ competition with wins in the 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and high jump.

Senior Abby Myers of Indiana won the 200 and 400 meter dashes. A rising star in Marion Center, sophomore MacKenzie Walker, won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs.
Penns Manor junior Kate Polenik won the discus and shot put.
United senior Devin Mack won the javelin and the shot put.
Indiana was helped by its dominance in the pole vaulting. Indiana captured first and second place in boys’ competition, while Indiana freshman Faith Hartle took first for the girls.
