Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash outside the Indiana County Courthouse.
Details are few at this time, but we do know that around 7:25 this morning, a silver four-door car was going east on Philadelphia Street when it crossed the center line, went up on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse, hit two railings on the front access steps of the courthouse before impacting with the corner of a concrete wall that surrounds the courthouse.
Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock was first on the scene. He was in his office at the time of the crash. Fyock added that the driver was lucky that there were no cars parked along Philadelphia Street in front of the courthouse.
The exact cause of the crash remains unknown but Indiana Borough Police say the driver may have suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. The car took on major damage to the front driver’s side corner. The railings on the courthouse steps were damaged, as was the point of impact on the courthouse wall. As soon as we get more details, we will pass them along to you.
