Iván Nova pitched seven strong innings and earned his second win in the Pirates’ 2-1 defeat of his old team, the New York Yankees, Sunday at PNC Park. The Pirates took two out of three games from the Yankees in the weekend series.
Josh Harrison, Gregory Polanco and Chris Stewart each had two hits for the Pirates. Stewart hit his first career triple.
Tony Watson picked up his sixth save despite loading the bases in the ninth inning.
The Pirates improved to 8-10 and start a three-game series at home with the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
