Two projects in Indiana County will receive state grants from the Department of Environmental Protection.
Governor Tom Wolf announced that nearly $1.2 million was distributed over 79 projects across the state for environmental education. Projects that address water education and climate change were given priority but for the first time, the grants will include funding for activities that educate, empower and enable disadvantaged communities to take part in environmental and public health issues. The new grants focus on the DEP’s renewed focus on environmental justice.
Two projects will receive funding in Indiana County. The IUP research institute will receive $44,662 for the Western PA Watershed Collaboration, and the Evergreen Conservancy will receive a $3,000 grant for the Indiana County GeoTrail project.
