Preliminary hearings are scheduled today for an Indiana man and woman facing drug charges for him injecting her with heroin while their 6-month-old son sat between them.
25-year-old Nicholas Allen Murphy and 26-year-old Francise Michelle Reed were followed from Blairsville to White Township by a state police surveillance team on April 4th after they were observed in the back seat of a car engaged in suspected drug activity. When they were pulled over, the baby was found unbuckled in an unsecured child seat. Reed admitted to police that Murphy has injected her with heroin after she put her arm underneath the car seat.
Murphy is free after posting $10,000 bond. Reed is still in custody with bond for her also set at $10,000. Both are charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reed is also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Both are due before District Judge Guy Haberl at one o’clock this afternoon.
