Randy Spielman, beloved husband and father, age 64 of Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in 1952 in Pottstown to David and Catharine (Rhoads) Spielman.
Randy attended Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana, and was a member of St. Paul’s UCC Church, Pottstown.
He was employed as a chef at IUP Foster Dining Hall for 17 years. He was employed by Mohawk Lanes for eight years prior to his retirement.
Randy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cynthia J. (Olson) Spielman, Indiana; two daughters – Rachel and Pauline Spielman, both at home; his mother Catharine Spielman, Douglassville; one brother – Robert Spielman and wife Ginny, Pottstown; four brothers-in-law – Keith Olson and wife Randee, Minneapolis, MN; Gregory Olson and wife Patricia, Lakeland, FL; Conrad Olson and wife Susan, Wadsworth, OH; David Olson and wife Kiki, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters-in-law – Janice Kozletsky and husband Robert, Homer City; Paula Olson, Homer City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and by his infant brother David.
Randy was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning food for his family and friends.
He was a committed follower of the Philadelphia Flyers, and he liked to host exchange students in his home.
His faithful dog, Apollo, will miss him.
Finally, he was a devoted father to his two daughters and very proud of all of their accomplishments.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, 712 Church Street, Indiana, PA 15701.
