With Spring now in full effect, one thing that people will see on rural roads are farm vehicles, and PennDOT and the Indiana Farm Bureau are informing drivers to use caution when encountering a farm vehicle.
At a news conference today at PennDOT District 10 Headquarters, the Indiana Farm Bureau and PennDOT teamed up to let driver’s know to be careful when farm vehicles are on the road. Ed Rising, Indiana Farm Bureau President, said that farm vehicles, while slow going and large, have just as much right as other vehicles to be on the roads.
Also joining PennDOT and the Farm Bureau in the effort was Good and Associates insurance agency. Agent Sandy Lefdahl said one of the claims they see the most that involves farm vehicles is when a car tries to pass.
PennDOT reminds everyone to go slow on rural roads, pass with caution and yield to wide vehicles. Farmers are reminded that the Slow-Moving-Vehicle emblem is required on vehicles designed to travel at 25 miles an hour or less, and to make your vehicle more visible by adding lights and reflective tape.
