Downtown Indiana will no longer provide one of the services that they provide due to a lack of funds.
Indiana Borough and Downtown Indiana, Incorporated had a Business Improvement District or BID agreement in place that provided services for downtown businesses like sidewalk clearing on snowy days and street cleanup, and those services were funded by assessments collected under the BID agreement. The most recent BID agreement expired in August of 2016, but Downtown Indiana continued to provide services under the BID agreement through the end of 2016, and for the first few months of 2017, Downtown Indiana has provided limited services. Downtown Indiana is now saying that because of a lack of funding sources, they will no longer provide the services from the now expired BID agreement, and they will no longer have a maintenance position.
Downtown Indiana said that if their financial conditions improve and they are able to secure other sources of funding, they may revisit having a maintenance position.
