State police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who clipped a coal truck at the intersection of route 954 and Mahoning Road in South Mahoning Township on Monday afternoon.
Police say the tri-axle truck operated by 52-year-old William Wells of Smicksburg was headed north on 954 when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle that was attempting to cross 954 from Mahoning Road. The offending vehicle had some damage to its grill but fled east on Mahoning Road. Wells pulled off the road and called the police.
There is no description of the hit-and-run vehicle.
