Troubles continue to mount for Jung-Ho Kang, who is trying to return to the Pittsburgh Pirates after his recent DUI conviction in South Korea.
Korean media outlets have reported that Kang’s application for a work visa that would allow him to return to the United States was denied. Earlier this month, Kang received a suspended 8-month prison sentence for a DUI incident in December. Kang has appealed his sentence, asking for a lighter penalty so that he can go back to play for the Pirates. If that sentence is reduced, Kang could gain approval from the US Government for that visa.
The Pirates are still working with the US Government to get the work visa issue straightened out. Reports are saying that a ruling on the appeal should come down by the end of April. If the appeal is denied, there will be a strong possibility that Kang may not play at all this season.
