Indiana County’s population is dwindling, according to statistics released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The 2016 data shows our estimated population fell by 613 people, to 86,364.
Neighboring Armstrong and Westmoreland counties also had declines, and Allegheny County had the seventh largest loss of population in the nation. Cook County, Illinois, where Chicago is located, had the largest decline.
The population estimates are based on statistics such as births, deaths, administrative records, and survey data.
