West Shamokin’s run in the PIAA girls’ basketball playoffs came to an end Tuesday evening with a 43-39 loss to Bishop Canevin in the Class AAA semifinals.
Shelby Clowser led the Wolves with 13 points and Katie Glover scored 10 points.
Clowser made a pair of 3-pointers at the close of the game to pull West Shamokin within three points (39-36) and within two points (41-39). But it was a pair of free throws by Bishop Canevin’s Brionna Allen in the final seconds that put the game out of reach for the Wolves.
West Shamokin enjoyed its last lead of the season when Clowser scored two points early in the fourth quarter to give the Wolves a 31-30 lead.
The Wolves finished the season at 27-3, with their first Heritage Conference and District 6 championships.
