Elva V. Alsop, 98 of Penn Run, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Communities of Indian Haven, Indiana, PA.
She was born in 1919 in Cherryhill Township, Indiana County, to Clyde and Lola Blanche (Martin) Mentch.
She was a member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Penn Run, and also a member of AARP. She was known as Grandma Beads to many. She enjoyed traveling, was energetic, and full of spirit. As her grandkids grew up, she remained very active in their activities. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma. She was also loved by her siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Elva is survived by her four children – Kenneth M. Alsop (Flo), Sandra J. Lockard (Bernard), Ronald L. Alsop (Karen), and Cindy S. Holuta; her eight grandchildren – Kenny Lee (Peggy), Jodi, Connie (Eric), Amy, Adelle (Tim), Jordan, Bradley, Brent (Elise); her eight great grandchildren – Amber (John), Kenny, Samantha, Summer, Savanah, Ella, Mia, James; and her three great great grandchildren – Niko, Bentlee, and Bristol. Also surviving are her siblings – Frank Mentch, Lola Bollinger, and Kenneth Mentch, and a special friend, Dale Fyock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth D. Alsop in 1997, her daughter-in-law Linda Alsop, and her siblings – Glen, Eleanor, Mildred, Clyde, and Paul.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home of Indiana, and on Thursday, March 23, from 10-11 a.m. at the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, Penn Run, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Margaret Marley officiating. Interment will be made in the Harmony Cemetery, Penn Run.
In lieu of flowers, family members have suggested donations be made to the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, 2075 Rte. 553 Highway, Penn Run, PA 15765.
