The West Shamokin Wolves girls’ basketball team advanced to the PIAA Class AAA semifinals with a 38-35 win over Neshannock Saturday afternoon.
Olivia Fusaro scored 18 points and Jasah Huth scored 12 for West Shamokin (28-2). Fusaro scored her 1,000th career point in the game and hit a key three-pointer in the fourth, slowing the Neshannock rally that had cut the lead to four points. On the play, Lancers’ star Bella Burelli committed her fifth foul. The Wolves’ defensive pressure and foul trouble limited the output of Neshannock’s two leading scorers, Burelli and Carmella Matarazzo, who scored 14 and 11 points respectively. No other Lancers player had more than 5.
