Robert P. Coulter age 90, of West Lebanon, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Village.
He was born in 1926 in Vandergrift to J. Paul and Josephine Sirk Coulter.
Bob was a member of the West Lebanon Church of God, and the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #66 in Indiana. Additionally, he had served as a school board director for the Apollo Ridge School District of 20 years, and had served at the South Bend Mutual Fire Co. He also served as a school director for Elders Ridge and West Lebanon school boards. He also served on the board of directors for ARIN Intermediate Unit.
A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Navy.
Bob was first employed for Babcock and Wilcox in Wilmerding, as a long distance truck driver, and later as an operating engineer for R&L Developing and for Mashuda Construction Co. for a total of 50 years until his retirement in 1996.
Bob will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his crazy ties, his love for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, root beer barrels, the Three Stooges, and especially anything purple. He enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and attending high school basketball games.
Surviving are three children – Karen White and husband Dean, Avonmore; Paul “Skip” Coulter and wife Karen, Natrona Heights; Brenda Fasenmyer and husband Robert, West Lebanon; five grandchildren – David (Sara) Coulter, Erik White, Danielle White, (Brook Brocious), Ashley (Joseph) Montemurro, Chad Fasenmyer, three great grandchildren – Pandora Coulter, Olivia Montemurro, and Kyler Brocious, one brother – James “Mike” Coulter and wife Luana, Indiana; two sisters-in-law – Mary Kerekes, West Lebanon, Maxine Fisher, Indiana; and brother-in-law – James (Gladys) Dunmire, Homer City.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Dunmire Coulter in 2009, his step-mother Martha Kinter Coulter in 2003, his son Robert in 1984, and by an infant daughter Debra in 1953.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. John Mark Henry officiating. Interment will be made in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the outstanding staff and administrators at Rose Haven Personal Care Home for their compassion, dedication, humor and loving care for Bob during the last two and a half years, it will never be forgotten. We are also grateful to Dr. Andrew Cash, the staff and administrators at St. Andrew’s Village, and VNA/Hospice, for their compassion and assistance during the last few weeks. Additionally, the family would like to thank Rev. John Mark Henry for all of his attention and prayers.
