In Indiana County Court, a number of defendants are scheduled for sentencing, including 49-year-old Glenn Mumau of Rossiter, who pleaded guilty to trying to burn down a neighbor’s Canoe Township property on three occasions in 2013.
State police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the incidents. Mumau’s son had been involved in a dispute over the young man’s speeding on Johnsonburg Road. Mumau attempted to burn down a building on the property that weekend, which was Memorial Day weekend, and twice more in the ensuing weeks, using “Molotov Cocktails”.
In exchange for a guilty plea to a single count of reckless burning of an unoccupied structure, thirteen counts of arson, two counts of possession of explosives, and two counts of reckless burning will not be prosecuted.
Mumau is currently serving time in SCI Forest County in a drug case. His sentencing has been postponed twice already. It will be done from there by two-way video.
- 51-year-old George Sager of Rhine Road, Center Township, will be sentenced for a guilty plea to manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver. Police found a methamphetamine lab at his camper last August when they arrived to serve a warrant on Sager for a parole violation. They found him at a neighbor’s and arrested him.
- Others scheduled for sentencing include Gina Hewitt of Torrance, for theft; James Vernon Holley of Homer City, who will plead and be sentenced in a DUI case; Joshua Chew of Blairsville, for retail theft and possession of a controlled substance; Devin Butler of Coral, for receiving stolen property in two theft cases; Neal Donahue of Indiana, for possession of drug paraphernalia; and Christina Summers of Mount Pleasant, for bad checks.
