HEMPFIELD TWP. WESTMORELAND COUNTY – State Police in Greensburg have charged 53-year old Allen Trent of Greensburg with Criminal Homicide in the shooting death Sunday of Frances Smith, inside a home on Waycross Road in Hempfield Township. The State Police report says that Trent had contacted the Westmoreland County 911 Dispatch Center and said his girlfriend had shot herself. Criminal Investigators arrived at the scene of the shooting and gathered physical evidence and conducted interviews. They were able to determine that Trent had apparently shot Smith with a .44 caliber revolver following an argument. After being arraigned, Allen Trent was placed in the Westmoreland County Jail.
