Sophomore forward Jacobo Diaz of the men’s basketball team and sophomore guard Carolyn Appleby of the women’s basketball team has been named the IUP Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 12.
This past weekend, Diaz averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists against Edinboro. He also shot 52.5 from the floor, making 2-of-2 shots from the free-throw line. In the win over Edinboro, Diaz recorded his tenth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Appleby averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists, while shooting 14-of-28 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the foul line. She also picked up one steal and seven assists against the Fighting Scots.
