Paul “Pete” Andrew Fayak, 70, of Commodore, PA “Starford” died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at his home.
The son of Andrew J. and Helen M. (Kaminsky) Fayak, he was born on June 29, 1946 in Indiana, PA.
Pete was a graduate of Purchase Line High School.
He served in the US Army as a SP4 (T) during Vietnam. He was sent oversea to Germany with the Co. C 3rd Battalion Infantry.
A retired coal miner, Pete had worked for many years at the Greenwich Collieries.
He was a member of the Clymer American Legion. One of his favorite pastimes was playing pool and drinking coffee with his many friends, including his close buddies: John Putt; Jack Frampton and Earl “Skin” Fulmer.
Pete is survived by his mother, Helen Fayak of Commodore, PA; his two daughters: Heather Niebauer and husband Matt of Ebensburg, PA and Jill Fayak and significant other, Jamie Proudfit of Ebensburg, PA and his eight grandchildren: Annaliese; Burke and Ardenne Niebauer; Ian and Kylie Anderson and Colin; Jacob and Blaise Fayak.
Also suriving are his sister, Anna “Ann” L. Goodlin of Ravenna, OH and his two nieces: Jane Lupean and husband Bob of Ravenna, OH and their daughter, Alaina and Kelly Cornett and husband Steve of Ravenna, OH and their son, Jared.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, Andy “Peanuts” Fayak on April 20, 2002 and his brother-in-law, William “Bill” Goodlin.
A time for visiting will take place for family and friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. At 7:00 p.m. Friday evening military honors will be observed at the funeral home under the direction of the Clymer American Legion Post #222.
At 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 Pete’s family and friends are invited to a blessing service at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Green Twp., Indiana Co., PA. Following the cemetery service, family and friends are welcome to gather at the Church of the Resurrection Social Hall on the lower level of the Pastoral Center at 349 Morris St., Clymer, PA for a luncheon and time of remembrance.
