The Saltsburg Trojans broke open a close game in the second half on their way to a 71-52 victory over visiting Ligonier Valley and earned the Heritage Conference Southern Divison title. The Trojans led 16-15 after one, 31-27 at the half, and 51-43 after three quarters. They dominated the fourth quarter outscoring the Rams 20-9.
Saltsburg’s Nick Porter led all scorers with 29 points. Jake Roman added 14, Jordan Booth 10, for the Trojans. Marek Paola led the Rams with 24 points.
The Trojans will now host Purchase Line Tuesday night (6:45 pm on Cat Country 106.3 FM) in the
Heritage Conference semi-finals.
With the loss, the Rams will be forced to travel to North Division champ West Shamokin Tuesday (6:45 pm on U92.5 FM).
The winners will play for the Conference title Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex. Tickets are $5 and on sale daily at the KCAC Box Office.
