George James “Dutch” Angelo (Angelino), 98, Homer City died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Moorehead Place, Indiana. He was the son of the late Alex and Marie (Bardeno) Angelino and was born October 15, 1918 in Center township, Indiana County.
He was a founding member of the Coral Graceton Fire Department and the Coral Graceton Sportsman Club.
He was a self employed Horticulturist and owner of Palm Ridge Orchard and was of the Catholic Faith. Dutch was a life time member of the Indiana VFW Post # 1989 and a WWII Veteran. He served with the Six Calvary Recon Army Rangers and was awarded a Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars and four Spearheads. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling and for the last 20 years loved wintering in Florida.
He is survived by three stepsons, Don (Tammy) Gearhart, Connersville; Dr. John Gearhart, Philadelphia and Gary (Cheryl) Gearhart, Homer City; 8 grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Brilhart, his second wife, Eunice Beard, sister, Josephine Basciano and brothers, Sam Carnabuci, Frank Angelo and Joe Angelo. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Don Gearhart.
Friends will be received Sunday, from 1-4 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by VFW Post #1989, Indiana.
