DERUBIS, MICHAEL E., 56, OF BLAIRSVILLE, PA
Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home. He was born July 16, 1960 in Latrobe, PA.
Michael was a member of the SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville, PA. Mike was a graduate of Blairsville High School Class of 1978. He was a member of the Italian Club and the Blairsville Eagles. He was very active in Blairsville youth sports, having been head coach for the Blairsville Boilermakers Football team for 17 years. Mike was also an assistant coach for Blairsville Bobcat football and was also involved in Blairsville baseball teams. He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling at the Italian Club and watching all Pittsburgh sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike truly enjoyed working with and helping all the kids in Blairsville that he coached over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan (Klingensmith) DeRubis of Blairsville, PA, father, Victor DeRubis, Jr. of Blairsville, PA; mother,- Rita (Ferrante) DeRubis of Blairsville, PA; sister, Karen Yockey & husband, Ronald of Indiana, PA; sister-in-law, Linda Klingensmith Smith & husband, Paul of VA; beloved nephew, Cody Spangler & wife, Katrina of Butler, PA; many cousins; aunt, Nancy Erwin & husband, Jack of Leechburg, PA and aunt, Trudy DeRubis of Armagh, PA. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Victor & Marie DeRubis; maternal grandmother, Nellie Beskid and uncle, Gilbert DeRubis.
The family will receive friends at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville, PA on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A wake service will be held on Friday evening at 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home. Prayers of transfer will be held at 10:15 am in the Funeral Home, prior to a funeral mass at SS Simon & Jude Church, Blairsville on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay will officiate. Interment will be in the SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
