Kenneth F. Stewart age 90, of Indiana, died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home. He was an uncommon man who lived an uncommon life.
He was born in 1926 in Pittsburgh to Edith Stewart.
Mr. Stewart was a life-member of the VFW Post 1989, and a life time member of the West Penn Desk and Derrick Club
Ken spent his early years in Elk Co living primarily in Ridgway before joining the Navy in 1944. He served aboard the USS Sigsbee during WW II.
He was self-employed in the Gas and Oil business, as owner of the “Mid Atlantic Oil Field Service.” He was later employed by Key Well Service, Talley Well Service, Well Tech, and Poole Co. He mentored many young men throughout his career.
Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing as a young man. Later in life he discovered golf and became an avid player. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, and cruising with his wife Donna.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Donna Hoffman Stewart, Indiana; five sons and two daughters – Veronica Brennan, Indiana; Kenneth Stewart and wife Linda, Indiana; Keith Stewart,, Lancaster; Richard Stewart, Home; Robert Stewart and wife June, Indiana; Michael Stewart and wife Linda, St. Marys; Kathleen Tierney and husband Bob, Stow, MA; three step-sons – Kevin Strong, Bellwood; William Strong, Indiana; Thomas Strong, Hyner; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one step granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter-in-law Cynthia Farrell Stewart, his son-in-law Regis Brennan, and his step-daughter Denise Pisone,
Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Sunday at 1 P.M. Interment will be private.
