The Penguins ran into a hot Washington Capitals team last night in the nation’s capital, and lost 5-2.
The Capitals Alex Ovechkin opened the scoring with his 1,000th career point, 35 seconds into the game, beating Marc Andre Fleury on a wrist shot, and the Caps never trailed. The Penguins got goals from Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist but the Capitals but Washington goalie Braden Holtby made 30 saves as the Caps passed the Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan Division.
The Penguins continue their three-game road trip tonight in Ottawa. It’s a 6:30 airtime on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel at U92Radio.com.
