Albert Sasala, 93, of Coral died December 10, 2019 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Timura) Sasala and was born April 21, 1925 in Graceton, PA.
He was a life long member of St. Mary Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City, a retired coal miner and a United States Army Veteran, where he was a Prisoner of War while serving in World War II overseas.
Albert is survived by three daughters, Barbara Kennedy, Pittsburgh; Cindy and husband John Caimi, Ridgway and Patti Sasala, Johnstown and one son, Albert Sasala and wife Cindie, Murrysville. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Melissa and husband Jon Whitsel, Amanda and husband Dan Gilman, Jessica Kennedy, Adam Caimi, Nathan Anderson and wife Amber and Joshua Anderson. Ten great grandchildren, Connor, Austin, Madelyn, Zachary, Ashley, Sam, Tessa, Olive, Willow and Zane also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, granddaughter, Allison and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Sasala.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City where a Parastas will be recited Friday at 6 PM. A Panachilda will be held Monday at 9:15 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City with Father Wesley Mash, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
