The Marion Center Fire Department has announced plans concerning a plot of land along route 119 in Home that they own.
According to an announcement on their Facebook page, the plot of land, which comes to just under five acres, was meant to be a new fire hall for the fire department when it was purchased in 2007. But there were several budget concerns and the economy at the time was not doing well, so the project never went beyond the point of grading and leveling the land. Now, the Marion Center Fire Department is announcing that the land will be utilized by the fire department as a new event hall.
The Marion Center VFD event complex will be a 9,000 square foot facility that will hold roughly 500 people. No word yet on when construction is scheduled to start. The property could also be used to house some of the department’s fire trucks.
