Just as they did last week for the Christmas holiday, State Police will be out and about for the New Year’s driving period.
State police will once again focus on DUI and seat belt related offenses during their patrols. State police say last year, from December 30th to January 1st, troopers across the state investigated 1,169 crashes. In those crashes, 251 people were hurt and two people were killed. 66 of the total crashes were alcohol-related. Troopers also made 284 DUI arrests, and issued 2,617 speeding tickets, 251 seat belt citations and 30 child safety seat citations.
We here at your hometown station wish you all the best in the New Year, and we ask that if you do celebrate tonight, celebrate responsibly.
